OUR MISSION

Help maintain senior citizens aged 65 and over facing a loss of autonomy in their familiar surroundings as long as possible.

It translates into the following objectives:

Putting an end to the isolation of vulnerable seniors

Improving their quality of life

Creating a community-based network of volunteer assistance

HISTORY

Ville-Émard Côte St-Paul was once a neighbourhood with an aging population with virtually no assistance. Thus was created the Service d’entraide Familiale in 1973 to answer the various needs of the locals. A division offering volunteer services was created specifically for seniors in 1980.

SBA has been active for over 40 years. It was incorporated in 1984 under ‘’ Entraide St-Jean-de-Matha’’ before changing to its current name in 1996.

OUR VALUES

Since its foundation, the focus of our organization, its raison d’être, has always been centred on the individual. Based on common values, our actions form the backbone of our goals.

Our values guide the daily duties of our team, our volunteers and everyone within our network. They serve as a strong foundation in decision-making.

Respect

To acknowledge the individual for who they are, no matter their gender, social status, origins and physical or psychological state and focus on their needs, values, abilities and their own pace.

Open-mindedness

To accept everyone for who they are, without judgement. Everyone is unique, members and volunteers are no exception.

Teamwork

To encourage mutual assistance, to collaborate with the people close to the member and with other organizations in the field, to be engaged, to promote our services and to communicate.
